. . . to Leeds city centre, the retail heart of a region.
. . . to Briggate, at the heart of a revitalized city centre.
. . . to the Briggate.com project, using digital photography to document the importance of this busy thriving thoroughfare and to celebrate the people that make it such an interesting and rewarding place to visit.

This is the story of a street or part of a street. The pedestrianized part of a street. It is a look at the life of the street and at life on the street. Here we will be able to see how pedestrianization has brought this stretch of the city to life. We will be able to see how it develops and how it is used. I hope this will be of interest to all those who come to Briggate: to work, to shop, to perform or just to watch the other passers-by.

Just as Briggate is at the heart of our city, so this project will become the core of a bigger, broader look at the life of Leeds and the transformations which it is experiencing.
A selection of photographs from this project will form an exhibition as part of the Celebrate Leeds 2007 festival. The majority of these will be drawn from the thousands I have taken during more than a year working on this project. Others will be contributed by you, the visitors to Briggate. This website will be developed to allow you to submit your photos from Briggate for display.
